 ater Spiral is a water flow-form and seating area designed for the front plaza at Monta Loma Elementary School in Mountain View, California. It was designed as part of Whisman School District's Art in Architecture project. Designed by architect Bill Gould of Bill Gould Design and artist Glen Rogers, this permanent public art sculpture provides a playful focal point for the entrance to the newly modernized school. Colorful tiles created by the students and a mural based on children's drawings adorns the circular vertical walls of the sculpture. Water and water life is the focal point for this public art sculpture. The 40' spiral structure features a water course that moves along the top of the diagonal wall. Teacher Kit Nishiura, Community School of Music and Arts, led the students in drawing sessions based on water life from the San Francisco Bay. Rogers translated their work into a mural, which was overlayed onto the student "water tiles".
